George Clooney has offered his opinion on the Breonna Taylor indictment. To review, only one of the three officers involved in her death was charged, and he only got “wanton endangerment” charges for the bullets that went into the surrounding apartments.
The Oscar winner’s statement comes on the heels of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron saying, “There will be celebrities, influencers and activists who have never lived in Kentucky who try to tell us how to feel, suggesting they understand the facts of this case, and that they know our community and the commonwealth better than we do, but they do not.”
Clooney noted that he was born and raised in the state, has family and a home in the state, and actually visited the state last month. “The justice system I was raised to believe in holds people responsible for their actions. Her name was Breonna Taylor and she was shot to death in her bed by three White police officers, who will not be charged with any crime for her death,” George noted. “I know the community. I know the commonwealth. And I was taught in the schools and churches of Kentucky what is right and what is wrong. I’m ashamed of this decision.”
- Other celebrities weighed in on social media. “Grey’s Anatomy” star Kevin McKidd even recorded a version of “Chasing Cars,” which will be released on Friday. You can check out a preview on the right. Meanwhile, check out these other responses…
I am devastated. #BreonnaTaylor was not given the justice she deserved.

Dear God No! Why does an empty apartment have more value than an innocent black woman’s life? #BreonnaTaylor https://t.co/vakKVrMnHO

“If you stick a knife in my back 9 in and pull it out 6 in, there’s no progress. If you pull it all the way out, that’s not progress. The progress is healing the wound that the blow made. They won’t even admit the knife is there.” Malcolm X. #BreonnaTaylor pic.twitter.com/e40xjbt0eH

The white supremacist institution of policing that stole Breonna Taylor’s life from us must be abolished for the safety and well being of our people. #BreonnaTaylor #SayHerName #AbolishThePolice

So essentially what they said today is that drywall, (which can be bought and sold, i.e. is replaceable) is of more value than a human life…or should I say a black female life.
This system is f*cked. I’m not surprised this is the outcome…yet is still hurts. #BreonnaTaylor
