The lead singer of rock band Nazareth has died at age 76. Dan McCafferty’s bandmate Pete Agnew shared the news on the band’s socials. McCafferty suffered from COPD and retired from touring in 2013. Dan was the voice behind “Love Hurts” and “Hair of the Dog.” He also co-wrote many of the band’s songs. The group got their name from a line in The Band’s classic song “The Weight,” which references the Pennsylvania town of Nazareth, not the Middle Eastern city.
