Man Falls Asleep on Job…Flying A Passenger Plane At 38,000 Feet

By Mike Jun 2, 2022 | 4:33 PM

A pair of airline pilots flying from New York City to Rome are accused of both sleeping on the job while the plane was in the air.

The two were flying an Airbus 330 for ITA Airways from JFK Airport on April 30th when air traffic controllers couldn’t make contact for about 10 minutes as they were 38-thousand-feet above France.

It’s reported that one of the pilots was on his designated sleeping break when the captain also fell asleep. Air traffic controllers couldn’t reach the pilots so they prepared fighter jets to intercept the plane, fearing a terror incident was happening. Luckily, one of the pilots responded before that happened.

It’s reported the captain has since been fired by the airline. At first he denied he was sleeping, but investigators discovered the truth.
