101.9 The Keg

When it comes to their kids, most parents will try just about anything to get them to sleep, and we mean anything.

A new poll finds:

  • 78% of parents are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure their baby sleeps well.
  • 68% of parents admit that when it comes to getting their kids to sleep they believe sleeping myths and urban legends.
  • 59% of parents say they’ve learned these sleeping myths from their parents, while 49% have read them online.
  • The average parent will test out these myths for five months in order to determine whether they work or not.
  • So, what are some of the sleep myths/urban legends parents are most likely to believe?
  • They include:
    • Babies will sleep later in the morning if they go to sleep later (70%)
    • Babies need to have a strict sleep schedule (67%)
    • You shouldn’t wake a sleeping baby (66%)
    • Sleep training works better if the baby is very tired from not napping or staying up late (64%)
    • The “camping out” method will help my baby become less dependent on me (60%)
