Outside Date Ideas For Couples Ready To Leave The House

May 15, 2021 | 6:39 AM

Been doing date nights from the comfort of the couch for longer than you care to remember? Lots of couples have been staying in for date nights long before COVID hit and they’re ready to shake things up. If you’re ready to leave Netflix behind and actually leave the house for a socially distanced date night, these ideas will get you outside in the fresh air with the one you love.

  • Visit a farmer’s market – Shopping for fresh fruits and veggies in an open-air market while supporting local vendors could be the perfect way to spend time with your boo on Saturday morning.
  • Go for a picnic – It’s a classic date for a reason and it’s just as much fun today. Find a spot in your favorite park that’s not too crowded or just sit on the fire escape or front step and enjoy some sunshine, lunch, and maybe a little wine, too.
  • Go for a hike – Head out on the trails for an active, adventurous day date.
  • Take a bike ride – Hop on the bikes and explore your neighborhood or ride a trail together. Bonus points if you can score a bicycle built for two.
  • Drive with the windows down – Bring some snacks and a playlist and hit the road for a scenic drive together. Plan a fun destination or just drive with nowhere to go, as long as you have the wind in your hair and your sweetie by your side, you’re good to go.
  • Plant a garden – This couple’s activity comes with benefits that go far beyond that one date. Pick out the fruits and vegetables you both want to grow, then start planting in the backyard, a community garden, or even on the rooftop. Gardening may help relieve stress and it counts as a workout, too! And once your crops produce, you get to have a cooking date.
