George Clooney Speaks Out & Celebrities Respond to Breonna Taylor Grand Jury Decision

By News Sep 24, 2020 | 7:49 AM

George Clooney has offered his opinion on the Breonna Taylor indictment. To review, only one of the three officers involved in her death was charged, and he only got “wanton endangerment” charges for the bullets that went into the surrounding apartments.

The Oscar winner’s statement comes on the heels of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron saying, “There will be celebrities, influencers and activists who have never lived in Kentucky who try to tell us how to feel, suggesting they understand the facts of this case, and that they know our community and the commonwealth better than we do, but they do not.”

Clooney noted that he was born and raised in the state, has family and a home in the state, and actually visited the state last month. “The justice system I was raised to believe in holds people responsible for their actions. Her name was Breonna Taylor and she was shot to death in her bed by three White police officers, who will not be charged with any crime for her death,” George noted. “I know the community. I know the commonwealth. And I was taught in the schools and churches of Kentucky what is right and what is wrong. I’m ashamed of this decision.”

  • Other celebrities weighed in on social media. “Grey’s Anatomy” star Kevin McKidd even recorded a version of “Chasing Cars,” which will be released on Friday. You can check out a preview on the right. Meanwhile, check out these other responses…
