Would You Dump Your Date Over A Bad First Kiss?

By News Sep 1, 2020 | 10:41 AM

Have you ever stopped dating someone after a bad first kiss? Australian relationship expert Louanne Ward asked members of her Facebook group, She Said, He Said, how important that first smooch is and if they’ve ever ended things with someone who wasn’t good at it. And it turns out, a lot of people put a lot of importance on a quality lip lock.

Lots of people responded that kissing can be a “major turn off” if it’s done badly and some say it “determines a lot” about intimacy. “A kiss is the most important thing for sensual connection,” one woman writes. “If the kiss is good, then the rest is even better.” And another explains, “You can tell more about a person from that first kiss than you can from two hours of conversation.” And several people say a sloppy first kiss is a deal-breaker that sends someone straight to the friend zone.

But others don’t put so much pressure on that first kiss because they say people can get better at it over time. Several people point out that they can “teach” their partner to be a better kisser and they would give their date another chance. One woman explains that she wouldn’t stop seeing someone because of the actual kiss, but adds she “wouldn’t revisit the date if there was a general lack of chemistry or a weird vibe.”
